Photos from Israel

Here are some photos from my trip to Israel in Spring Break (April 2014).

HOD HASHARON

Gan - preschool's were everywhere.  This one was opposite where I stayed in Hod HaSharon.

 Easy to read street signage.

The welcoming front gate.

 Sunset from my friend's home.

Protected wildflowers growing in the backyard.

Public transport was cheap, reliable, and had free wifi!
Loved this initiative!  Free exercise equipment in the parks.
Parks were well resourced.

 Arm raises anyone?

 I enjoyed seeing clouds!

Another wonderful cloud and sun creation.

TEL AVIV

Squatters or protesters in Park in Tel Aviv.

 Shanty Town!

 The Mediterrean Sea!

Loved the long walkways along the rugged coast.
No swimming here.

Plenty of green spaces.  Tel Aviv was a mix of old and new.
This is the new - it was clean and appealing.

Well used promenade.  I'm about to walk down to the point.

Looking back towards the city.

I found a gem of an attraction.

Just a few steps to get up for the view.

And the view is worth it.                                                                                                                                                          Looking out the other side.

TIBERIAS/ SEA OF GALLILEE

Packed and ready to go for a long weekend trip up to the Sea of Gallilee.

Mt Tabor and our first glimpse of the 'Sea'.

 Sea of Gallilee.

Our accomodation.  Ministry of Absorption?  Oops!  I think we've booked into an immigration camp.

I went to the cupboard and the cupboard was bare!   So we'll just have to eat out.

                                   Street food.                                         Street sellers.
Everything was fresh and reasonably priced.
Ready to see the sights.  Our apartment was way up the top of a hill so a long walk down and an even bigger one back up.

I love the old stone buildings.

What a find!  Down a back street and I spied this.

Impressive!

The Fortress!

Information.

The thickness of the walls would withstand siege.

Boarded up in parts - for safety.

Now that's interesting.

You could see where the prisoners slept.

Interesting door.

  Old Police cells.

Beautifully crafted buildings.

Nice leafy trees.

Time for a rest in the shade.

Lovely little courtyard around the castle.

 Mosaic fountain.

 The arc atop a tree.

Nifty wee hotel in case I come back.
This one is right down on the waterfront and was serving a delicious breakfast on the balcony.

Sail sculpture.

Not quite walking on water but at least I'm out on it.

 Looking back towards Tiberias.

 Getting a good look around.

 Enjoying the banana boat.

Bit choppy!

 Sea of Gallilee.
I can't believe I'm actually here.  And did I see some sights while sitting here just watching the world go by?

A casual reminder of where I am.
