Bidya Mosque - Oldest Mosque in UAE?

While in Fujurah I visited the oldest mosque that is still in use in the UAE.  Although the sign says Bidya Mosque it is called Ottoman Mosque in the book I read.  It is named after its architect Othman, not the Ottoman Empire.

When we passed earlier in the day the place was very busy with many visitors posing for photos.  Apparently at Ramadan it is impossible to pass by on the road due to the high number of men there praying.

As it was late at night we snuck in as I wasn't sure if women were allowed in there or not.  Pity that several men were in there, some sleeping so we were not allowed in.  However, this didn't stop this intrepid traveller climbing up hills in her good clothes to snap some pictures.

 The Mosque with its flattened cupolas is supported by a single internal pillar and has no minaret.

The towers are not thought to have been used to defend the town.
